In the evenings before the eventful night of the Bon Festival, as well as the days proceeding, Magda proves to be an eager and fast learner of the complexities of the written Rokugani language during her secret meetings with Tsukiko. Magda pays her appreciation in subtle and flirtatious gossip, which flows smoothly from her conversational tone that comes so readily to her when telling stories, reciting poetry... or sharing rumors. Sometimes her rumors are shared through a pointed question, implying the answer. In any case, she dances around with the art of rumors with a startling level of adeptness and wealth of political knowledge that surprises even Tsukiko, which makes Tsukiko realize how well-informed she is on the happenings of Rokugan, and how dangerous she may actually be, especially as most write her off as a simple gaijin performer.
Magda shares the following rumors with Tsukiko:
Magda eventually asks Tsukiko a question that comes without the usual flirtatious tone nor the hint of a smile at the edge of her lips. Magda looks away from Tsukiko's gaze and again practices her penmanship with the brush and parchment, "Have you noticed the scarcity of the Scorpion guard and bushi in Ryoko Owari, especially the Thunder Guard? I suppose, perhaps, you wouldn't have, being new to the city yourself. The city just seems so empty though, doesn't it? I wonder where they have all gone." She tentatively looks up to make eye contact with you, and you see a hint of fear in her eyes, and perhaps even worry for you in the crease of her eyebrows, "Be careful, Tsukiko-sama. There are things already in motion that cannot be undone, and you may find yourself caught in the middle and in danger."
Tsukiko tries to follow up with what she's talking about, but she responds, "I can say no more, as I've already said too much. But you can trust no one. Especially no Scorpion... perhaps especially Kagemori." She throws herself down to the floor on her knees, placing her forehead to the tatami mat. "Please forgive me, Tsukiko-sama, I should not say such things."
Magda shares the following rumors with Tsukiko:
- The prayers of the Phoenix Clan's mystical Shugenja have recently been going haywire for some unknown reason, so they've begun turning to forgotten or even forbidden magic to find answers.
- The Kaiu Wall of the Crab Clan has recently been overwhelmed by a siege of Oni from the Shadowlands, who lead an endless army of the dead against the increasingly depleted ranks of the Crab who teeter on the brink of failure.
- The Lion and Crane are on the brink of war, which has been the status quo for decades, but has come to a head after the mysterious death of the Lion Champion's mother and the Crane Champion's father not long after.
